Welcome to the Board of Education's website!

The Board of Education is chaired by Bishop Stephen Venner and comprises members elected by Diocesan Synod and appointed by the Archbishop.

The Board's priorities are grouped under the four headings of the Diocese's "Growing Forward Together"

We have a thriving group of 105 Church schools in the diocese and are proud of what they have to offer the communities they serve. You will find out more about them in this website and through their own.

We also have a range of services offered by our small education team based at Diocesan House in Canterbury. You will find our detailed responsibilities set out here also.

In the light of misleading press coverage about Church schools, we have produced a paper about some of the common misrepresentations and misunderstandings, entitled "Myths and Facts about Church Schools".

The Diocesan Education Team has close working links with Canterbury Christ Church University, which is, of course, a Church foundation.

We realise we are in the process of developing this site to provide a service that meets our users' needs and we always welcome ideas on how we can best do just that.
