The Year Ahead: Looking at Mark
Date: Wednesday 5 November 2008
Time: 10am to 4pm; registration from 9.30am.
Venue: International Study Centre and Canterbury Lodge, Canterbury.
Cost: £15.00 including lunch
This course is for clergy and readers in the Diocese of Canterbury
Course Leader: Dr Mark Bonnington is Senior Leader of King's Church in Durham and has a particular passion for preaching from Scripture.
The Church's Mission Statement is to be 'a Christian community that exists to make wholehearted disciples of Jesus, to develop the gifts of every individual, equipping them for service in the world and to proclaim the gospel of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit'. Mark taught New Testament for more than ten years at St John's College and presently teaches a Master's course on Ministry and Mission in the Acts of the Apostles at Cranmer Hall. He is also writing a commentary on 1 Corinthians. Mark is married to Ruth, a GP in Gateshead, and they have three children.
"I am delighted to be able to recommend Dr Mark Bonnington to ministers and preachers in the diocese. Mark is an exceptional teacher - I know, I have sat in his classes - and is highly recommended as a gifted preacher. He will be leading us through the gospel readings from St Mark's Gospel which form the Common Worship lections for the coming liturgical year. The day will cover major themes in St Mark, in-depth analysis of particular passages and strategies for preaching. This will be an invaluable day for those who wish to develop their preaching and teaching ministry"
(Neville Emslie, Ministry Development Officer).
